DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES

FREE PLAY:

Is just that, "free" play. However, much perceptual, social, and personal development occurs during this time. It is our desire that each child be allowed to fully explore who he/she is in relation to God, other children, adults, and their environment without infringing on another's freedom to explore.

ACTIVITY TIME:

Is a directed learning time, usually a group experience. More emphasis is directed toward refining small motor skills, eye and hand coordination, language skills, math concepts, and science abilities. Social skills are also explored.

ART:

Is guided free expression with a minimum of models or rigid instruction. We use art and non-art materials, and techniques with a desire to draw out the unique personal style, as well as giving each child an opportunity to freely manipulate and control his environment.

STORY TIME:

Opens imaginations and introduces new word and worlds. Story time is valuable for developing language skills and reading readiness. It also helps make children more aware of community relationships and the world around them, seen and unseen, while introducing them to music, drama, and other expressive arts.

SHARE DAY:

One day a week will be share day. Please encourage your child to bring books, tapes, movies, science items, etc. These items will be given to the teacher upon arrival at pre- school, with each child given time to share. The child will not be allowed free access to the item brought for share day
